Ronni @ The Screenwriter's Wife

Rambling Ronni: 8 years is a long time. It’s time to move on.

Early, early Saturday morning, way before dawn, I woke up. I couldn’t go back to sleep. Filled with an anxiety similar to what I’d felt the morning before the birth of my third child.

Knowing that the near future was inevitable, yet it still felt so impossible.

Oh, those awful moments of waiting. Of knowing that the then-present would forever be defined as the precursor to what it was that came next. Read more…

Kids Night In Review – Spend Quality Time w/Your Kids Subscription Box

Yes, this is their NOVEMBER 2017 box. Yes, I know. Whatever. Ignore what month it now is, and enjoy this cool box offering that Night In Boxes have recently put together. I’ve reviewed their Date Night In boxes before, but they’ve also put together a line of subscription boxes to do with your kids called Kids Night In Boxes!

I know there’s other kid subscription boxes out there. We do some of the other subscription boxes, like Kiwi Crate, Little Passports and History Unboxed as well, but those are more educational in nature. Kids Night In boxes are geared toward quality time spent with your kids…kind of like a parent-kid play date. That comes in a box. So that you can just be an awesome parent without even having to try. 🙂 Read more…

700 Sq Ft, Family of 5: “Hurry Up I Have To Pee” One Bathroom House

If there’s one single thing I’m most looking forward to when we’re able to move someday, it’s this: Having a second toilet in the house! For real, when we first moved into this place – without kids – I had no idea of the struggle of living in a small home with small children (especially in the year+ that the full course of potty training seems to take) and everyone needing to use the bathroom at once. And really, why is it that somehow everyone has to go #2 at exactly the same time?? Or while someone else is showering or taking a bath?? And then trying to get teeth brushed while someone just stunk up the bathroom?

Hah, for real. I know even larger families live in a one bathroom house too, but man, we’ve only got four potty users right now and already it’s tough. Those of you who do one bathroom with more people TOTALLY have my respect.  Read more…

How I Never Go Grocery Shopping Anymore. Like, For Real.

For the past year or so I’ve been experimenting and researching different ways to get healthy groceries for a decent price — and even better delivered straight to me(!!) so I don’t have to drag my three small kids out of the house and down grocery store aisles. Gah. Even just the thought of that exhausts me. Three kids is no joke y’all.

Here’s how I never go grocery shopping anymore: Read more…

Rambling Ronni: My house is small. We need to move. We can’t move.

I’ve been feeling down the past few days. It’s stupid, I know, in the grand scheme of it all. And we’re already so lucky to even have what we have. We have a home, health, happiness. We’re blessed. Truly.

But even still, I’ve found myself discouraged. I can’t tell you how much KP and I would love to move to a new house. A larger house. Or even just a house with a second toilet. Or maybe central air. Or a real backyard. Or, such a beautiful thought – HARDWOOD FLOORS {swoon!}.

When we got back from our big roadtrip a week ago and looked ahead to 2018, we let ourselves dream. We started looking online at rental homes in the area. I even went to a couple showings. Just because. And you know what? Read more…

Bringing Sexy Back To Your Marriage With The Fantasy Box

I’ve been reviewing date night subscription boxes for awhile now, but if you check out my main listing page… and if you keep scrolling down to the bottom… you might notice this box company called The Fantasy Box. I kind of hide The Fantasy Box away down there so as to not be all – here’s sex! Sex! Sex! Sex! Ha ha. But don’t let its placement fool you – The Fantasy Box provides an excellent service that I highly recommend. I’ve just been a bit shy about putting that right all up in your face.

WEEEEEELL before now that is.  Read more…

700 Sq Ft, Family of 5: The ‘Everything Room’: Entryway, Desk Area, Living Room Combo

So I have a small house. The biggest room is the main room you walk into when you open the door. Depending on what you believe to be our proper square footage, this room is around 29% – 35% of our entire house (I did the math. I like math.). So, like, it’s a big deal to get it right. It’s our front entryway. Our living room. Our library. My desk area, craft area, manage-the-house area, command center, whatever you want to call it. Where the kids play. Where we watch tv. Where we put the Christmas tree and fold laundry. It’s the everything room.

Welcome to our home! Read more…

WeConcile Online Marriage Counseling Program Review: At Home Marriage Counseling

I have been talking to the creators of WeConcile for awhile now. I am very excited that their site is now up and running and that they gave KP and I a preview in order to take a look at their WeConcile Online Marriage Counseling Program!

You know that I’m a big fan of honesty. Especially when it comes to the struggles about marriage. I’m also a big fan of marriage commitment and finding a way to work through the tough times. One of the main goals of this blog is to try to get marriage resources to those who might need it — something I wish I had had when KP and I were struggling. Read more…

Rambling Ronni: My 5 Month Old Likes To Scream

I want to have a cool blog. I want to have a big enough blog that I can earn enough money from so that we can move into a larger home but still stay in my (now ridiculously overpriced  ) community. But I don’t want a ‘sell-out’ blog. I want a blog that feels honest and real and truthful and helpful. I want to help other marriages in tough places. I want to help, in some small way however I can, build up families and society and leave something good to come out of my existence on this earth.

And I also want my 5 month old to stop screaming so much.

It makes it really hard to think. Read more…

Marriage IRL: How “In Sickness” Can Make a Marriage Stronger Instead of Weaker

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease a couple of years before my husband and I courted and were married.  At the time, it was well-managed and caused me very few problems.  I thought that as long as I took my medicine, it would be fine.  I quickly learned otherwise – I was hospitalized 13 times in our first 9 months of marriage, and in 35+ times in the last six.

Needless to say, our six years of marriage have not been very typical!  However, looking back, we wouldn’t change it for anything.  There have been some hard, hard times, but they’ve made us stronger:  both individually and as a couple. Read more…

Marriage IRL: When Anorexia Struggles Get In the Way of Honest Communication

It’s been awhile since I last featured a post in my Marriage In Real Life guest post series. However, I’m hoping to update this to be a more regular series and over the next couple weeks will be posting more of these posts. I think it’s so important to realize that we ALL deal with different issues in our marriage relationships – and that we can work together to overcome the challenges that our marriages bring us.

Today I’m partnering with Savannah from Millennial Mrs. and Mom as she shares about how her struggles with an eating disorder have affected her marriage. She also shares how and her husband work through the daily challenges they face in light of this struggle.

Thank you Savannah for sharing your story! Read more…

Why Having Three Kids is Hard, Why I’m Losing My Mind…and Why I’m Ok With It.

Y’all, it’s been a summer. A long summer. Having three kids is hard. I love them a million times each, I do. But. Goodness gracious.

A couple years ago, some friends of ours, who’d just had their third child, jokingly gave KP and I some advice. “Don’t have a third kid”, they joked.

They were probably only HALF joking.  Read more…
