In case anyone noticed my absence for the past couple weeks – I am still here and alive. 🙂 And if you didn’t already guess, I had my baby, which is what largely contributed to my sudden sabbatical. Well, that and having had visitors staying with us for 2 weeks. Oh, and having participated in consignment sale this past weekend (seriously, what was I thinking to do that so close to my due date?!)
I’m back now. And doing really well actually. So far (knock on wood) Baby Boy S has acclimated to our family rather well and I feel extremely lucky that he is such a chill baby. Especially now, when so many other things in our lives are up in the air. He is such a sweet blessing. I had forgotten how amazing newborns are. I’m in love.
I surprisingly don’t even feel as sleep deprived as I thought I’d be at 13 days postpartum – or even as sleep deprived as I remember being at this point with my daughter 2.5 years ago. I’m tired, yes, but I’m definitely able to function. I don’t know if things seem easier this time around because:
a) My expectations were low and I thought things would be so much harder with two.
b) He truly is a really chill baby and I just lucked out.
c) KP and I are more patient and experienced as parents and not as phased by a baby crying or having to wake up multiple times a night.
d) My after-birth recovery has been MUCH easier than after my first birth.
e) A combination of the above.
As much as I really, really want to dive in and start writing out my birth story right now, I’m not going to. I have several posts in the queue – some that I even started before the birth – so I want to get them up first. Typing out my birth story will be my reward for finally getting myself back into this blog, ha ha.
So stay tuned…if I have my druthers there will be many more posts to come in the next several days to make up for my temporary hiatus.
In the meantime though, here are some cute pictures of Baby Boy at 6 days old to tide you over. 🙂
