What Is Tully About? More Than You Might Realize. The Deeper Layers No One Else Is Talking About

So you now the movie Tully that’s out right now? If you’re a mom, and/or part of mom groups, you’ve probably seen the movie discussed. The trailers show a slightly humorous depiction of the hard times of early motherhood. Then a night nanny is hired. Overall it looks like a kind of sweet, emotional, realistic tribute to motherhood. Right?

But maybe a blogger you follow criticized the twist of the movie, stating that Read more…

April 2018 Date Night In Box Review – Easy Like Sunday Morning

Before I get to this Date Night In box review, I have a confession: every time I hear the song Easy Like Sunday Morning by The Commodores, I think of the movie Baby Driver. If you haven’t seen Baby Driver, I highly recommend. It’s not just a bank heist/car chase movie, it’s got a magical score and every cut is spot on. For real. Here, watch this 6-min opening clip on youtube. You’ll be hooked. Even if you don’t typically like action films (which I usually don’t either). You might even end up buying the soundtrack too.

Sorry, going off on a tangent here. Back to my Easy Like Sunday Morning Date Night In Box Review! Read more…

February 2018 Date Night In Box Review – The Story of Us

It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed a date night subscription box, and about a year since the last time I reviewed a Date Night In box. So here’s a fresh and updated review for you of their The Story of Us box.

Fun fact: This Date Night In box was the very first package delivered to our new house! It arrived ON moving day, lol, and seeing a piece of mail with my name and the new address made this big move feel all the more legit. 🙂 Read more…

Bringing Sexy Back To Your Marriage With The Fantasy Box

I’ve been reviewing date night subscription boxes for awhile now, but if you check out my main listing page… and if you keep scrolling down to the bottom… you might notice this box company called The Fantasy Box. I kind of hide The Fantasy Box away down there so as to not be all – here’s sex! Sex! Sex! Sex! Ha ha. But don’t let its placement fool you – The Fantasy Box provides an excellent service that I highly recommend. I’ve just been a bit shy about putting that right all up in your face.

WEEEEEELL before now that is.  Read more…

WeConcile Online Marriage Counseling Program Review: At Home Marriage Counseling

I have been talking to the creators of WeConcile for awhile now. I am very excited that their site is now up and running and that they gave KP and I a preview in order to take a look at their WeConcile Online Marriage Counseling Program!

You know that I’m a big fan of honesty. Especially when it comes to the struggles about marriage. I’m also a big fan of marriage commitment and finding a way to work through the tough times. One of the main goals of this blog is to try to get marriage resources to those who might need it — something I wish I had had when KP and I were struggling. Read more…

Marriage IRL: How “In Sickness” Can Make a Marriage Stronger Instead of Weaker

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease a couple of years before my husband and I courted and were married.  At the time, it was well-managed and caused me very few problems.  I thought that as long as I took my medicine, it would be fine.  I quickly learned otherwise – I was hospitalized 13 times in our first 9 months of marriage, and in 35+ times in the last six.

Needless to say, our six years of marriage have not been very typical!  However, looking back, we wouldn’t change it for anything.  There have been some hard, hard times, but they’ve made us stronger:  both individually and as a couple. Read more…

A List of Online Marriage Counseling Programs That Might Help Save Your Marriage

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you’ll know that I’m not shy about talking about the hard times that come with marriage. So I’ve complied this list of Online Marriage Counseling programs to hopefully help other couples in need. Read more…

Marriage IRL: When Anorexia Struggles Get In the Way of Honest Communication

It’s been awhile since I last featured a post in my Marriage In Real Life guest post series. However, I’m hoping to update this to be a more regular series and over the next couple weeks will be posting more of these posts. I think it’s so important to realize that we ALL deal with different issues in our marriage relationships – and that we can work together to overcome the challenges that our marriages bring us.

Today I’m partnering with Savannah from Millennial Mrs. and Mom as she shares about how her struggles with an eating disorder have affected her marriage. She also shares how and her husband work through the daily challenges they face in light of this struggle.

Thank you Savannah for sharing your story! Read more…

Crated With Love Date Night Box Review: I Love the 80s! (Apr. ’17)

Hey – I might be about to go into labor (fingers crossed for any day now! …though I’m realistically not due for another week or two, but still…I can hope…), but KP and I still find time for at-home date nights. Crated With Love again to the rescue! And let’s be honest, I highly doubt we’ll be getting out anytime soon after the birth for an out-of-the-house date night. So really – Crated With Love to the rescue! 🙂

April’s Crated With Love box theme was “I Love the 80s!” Read more…

Date Night In Subscription Box Review – March 2017 Pamper Your Love

Two years ago, when I first stumbled onto the concept of at-home date night subscription boxes and put together a blog post listing the ones that I’d found – I had NO IDEA how the post would take off, how many new and exciting date night box companies were in development and how many date night boxes KP and I would be lucky enough to get to try out and review! It’s certainly been fun to see what each date night box service offers and feeling as though I’ve become the “expert” on all things date night boxes, lol.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon a new company, Date Night In, and KP and I finally got a chance to try out one of their boxes. Read more…

Unbox Love February 2017 Review

KP and I have had the great privilege of being able to try out many of these date night subscription boxes over the past year or two. First and foremost, I want to thank all of the date night subscription box companies out there for providing such a service! In the early years of marriage it’s often easy to spend time together as a couple and do regular date nights – but man, as time passes and life changes (especially if/once kids enter the mix), finding time to spend together is a SERIOUS challenge. And getting OUT of the house alone together, for a “proper date”, especially without family nearby, feels almost darn near impossible at times.  Read more…

Crated With Love Review: My Kaizen Crush (Mar. ’17), aka our date night fight

KP and I have been doing the Crated With Love date night subscription boxes for the past several months. I’ve been reviewing them on the blog to help people get an idea about what one of these at-home date night box services are like.

So this past Friday night -after a long week- KP and I sat down to have our date night. Can I be honest? Both of us were exhausted, and probably would’ve preferred to veg out in front of the tv instead. But we’ve been busy and haven’t even had many nights to spend together lately, so out of commitment and obligation, we forced ourselves to set up the date box anyway.

And let’s just say our date night did not turn out as planned.  Read more…

Crated With Love Date Night Box Review: Stuck on You (Feb. ’17)

The other night was Crated With Love date box night here in the Peck household. 🙂 I’ll be honest: it’s lately been really hard for KP and I to manage to spend time together. He usually doesn’t get home until late, I often have to work online in the evenings when he is home, or he has to finish up work on his laptop. When we both actually do have a break before bed, we tend to turn on the tv…and either fall asleep on the couch or take our devices to bed with us and play games or surf online until we do. I know these are not the healthiest relationship habits, and it’s something we need to work on, but after long days it’s a habit we’ve unfortunately fallen into.

So I’m really glad that we’ve had a chance to try out so many of these date night subscription boxes because it’s “forced” us to actually set aside time together, lol. So please know that I don’t just recommend these boxes for other couples, but we actually use them ourselves.  Read more…

Marriage IRL Guest Post: When Duty Calls His Name (Surviving Marriage In the Military)

As many of you know, one of things I try to do in my blog is to be honest about the trials and hardships of marriage. But because it’s obviously the marriage I know best, I usually only talk about mine and KP’s marriage. However, something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile is to ALSO highlight other people’s marriage stories.

Today I’m partnering with Vanessa who blogs at Fit Foodie Mom Life as she shares about some of the struggles she’s faced as a military wife and how deployments and long periods of absences have affected their relationship. She also gives encouraging suggestions about ways her marriage in the military survives.  Read more…

I talk about date night subscription boxes A LOT on my blog…I know. 🙂 For you long-time readers, I hope you’ve had the chance to try at least one of them out by now! However, if this is the first you’ve heard of them -or the first you’ve heard of Crated With Love- let me tell you more!

KP and I have been lucky to test out a a few of the Crated With Love boxes now (so I have a pretty good feel for the product and what you’re likely to get each month). Here is the latest box (Jan. 2017 – FounDATEions) and our review.
