Marriage IRL: How “In Sickness” Can Make a Marriage Stronger Instead of Weaker

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease a couple of years before my husband and I courted and were married.  At the time, it was well-managed and caused me very few problems.  I thought that as long as I took my medicine, it would be fine.  I quickly learned otherwise – I was hospitalized 13 times in our first 9 months of marriage, and in 35+ times in the last six.

Needless to say, our six years of marriage have not been very typical!  However, looking back, we wouldn’t change it for anything.  There have been some hard, hard times, but they’ve made us stronger:  both individually and as a couple. Read more…

It’s been awhile since I last featured a post in my Marriage In Real Life guest post series. However, I’m hoping to update this to be a more regular series and over the next couple weeks will be posting more of these posts. I think it’s so important to realize that we ALL deal with different issues in our marriage relationships – and that we can work together to overcome the challenges that our marriages bring us.

As many of you know, one of things I try to do in my blog is to be honest about the trials and hardships of marriage. But because it’s obviously the marriage I know best, I usually only talk about mine and KP’s marriage.
