Hello all! I decided to start a new, probably inconsistent, blog feature called “Cool Things” about things – anything, products, links, places, something I learned – that I like and want to tell someone else about.
Because what fun it is having a blog if you don’t get to tell people what you think in it, right? 🙂
For today’s inaugural Cool Things post, I’m going to talk about something rather timely…and cool. Like actual cool. Because I’m so cool. And sooo clever… obviously.
Anyway, we don’t have central air in our house. I complain/brag about this every summer. Either way, it’s a fact. Another fact: Average highs in June in my area of town is in the mid 80s. Yesterday’s high was 107. Right now, it’s 108 degrees outside. The heel of my palms are sticking to the bottom of my keyboard as I type.
So this is what I’m going to tell you about today: Cool Things, LITERALLY COOL THINGS, That I Like.
Zipzicles. I just discovered these this summer and we’re still on our first batch of popcicles in the freezer (with spinach and blueberries in it…shhh…). And I’ve been washing them out to re-use again, making them even cheaper (and me hiper and “greener” ).
Silicone Popsicle Molds. I don’t actually have these but was considering getting them over the Zipcicles. I still might upgrade to them one day. They are just like zipcicles in purpose, but made of silicone, meant to be re-used, and easier to wash.
Copper Moscow Mule Mugs. KP and I got these for Christmas and drink all our fancy grown up drinks in them. I even drink non-grown up drinks from them. I remember being a girl and my mom having a copper cup and her telling me how she used to love drinking milk from it as a girl because it kept the milk so cold. So I guess there’s something to the copper mug thing. (I’m also obsessed with using these glass straws in the copper mugs too, because, I don’t know, because they are awesome)
Reditainer Feezer Containers. If I could go back in time, these would be the only things I’d own as far as kitchen food storage. They freeze, they stack, they can be reused, they’re sturdy, there’s several volumes but only one lid size – basically, they’re great. I have the 16 oz ones, but I’d like to get the the bigger and smaller set too.
Dyson Air Multiplier. It’s EXPENSIVE, but KP got it on some Groupon deal once when I wasn’t really paying attention to how much he spent. Regardless, we own it, and it rocks. It’s sturdy and has been knocked over several times and you wouldn’t know it. It’s easily portable. It’s safe to put right next to toddlers and they won’t stick stuff, like fingers or toys, in it. If you can only afford one and are you’re trying to decide between a ceiling fan and this, get this.
Well, that’s it! I reserve the right to add more to this list later, but if/until then, I hope I’ve introduced you to something “cool” for the time being!
Enjoy the cooler weather you’re probably having somewhere else other than here! 🙂
